FALL CLASSES AMERICAN GIRL CLASS Spend a year studying the American girls! Learn history through the American girls. We are going to dig in and have some fun doing it. We'll learn about horses, Indians, and longhouses with Kaya. We'll learn about the 13 colonies, Betsy Ross, George Washington, and the Revolutionary war with Felicity. Learn about animal classification, landforms, native American Folk Tales and even some Spanish words with Josephina. Just in time for Christmas - we'll be having a party! I'll have to have all the girls help me plan it. You might even convince me to have a toy and food drive in time for Christmas too. Come January, we'll be heading West with Kirsten. We'll pack for America and learn about pioneers, quilts, and tornadoes. In February, we'll learn all about the Civil War with Addy. March brings Samantha, scientists and inventors, and learning the 50 states. In April, we'll learn about the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl with Kit. We'll finish up in May with Molly and WWII. If you do not have all the books, the library does have them, but not enough for everyone at the same time. Now would be the perfect time to start collecting them. You do NOT need to buy the unit study guide (Portraits in American Girlhood). I will be providing all the reading lists, web sites, craft ideas, etc. that you will need. I will go as in depth as you want. Just let me know. I have created a yahoo group for this class. bcsamericangirclass@yahoogroups.com Class fee - $40 per month ($60 per family) - Tuesdays 2:30 - 4:30 pm - Ages 7-12 Classes start on Tuesday, September 2, deadline for registration is August 22nd. Instead of a supply fee, I will have a supply list. That way you can shop for bargains, clean out your closet, and keep expenses down. For more information email Ellen Lemons at mom@babylemons.com. You may register with $40 for the first class online or at Key Curriculum. $40 Per Child:

ART CLASSES Art Teacher: Magda Zietsman (m-zietsman@suddenlink.net) My philosophy: Observing and experiencing art are essential for each child's development. Not only does it build a good self-esteem, it also enriches a child's emotional experience in life and his/her social development. In addition, art expands a child's ability to deal with reading, writing, math, science and social studies. My approach is to work at each child's individual ability and to create a positive learning experience for him/her.
